Mr Hartwright has been fantastic from the start of my hip replacement journey right up until the last check ups following the procedure. He explained what was causing my problem and how he would be able to fix it clearly, showed me the new joint and we talked through the scans so I fully understood. The surgery went well, he was there when I arrived in theatre and when I woke up in recovery again giving reassurance and information on how it went. He even popped in the following day, his day off, to check mine and his other patients xrays! And that we were OK. The whole team at RHCH were fantastic, the care was exceptional. To any one who may need a hip replacement I would like to say that this has been life changing for me. While it is a major operation the relief from the moment you return to the ward is unbelievable. I was up and on crutches,then home the following day. Work with the physios OT’s to get moving and your recovery will be so fast and you’ll be out walking independently before you know it.
